There are many options available for getting your content delivered around the world.
Here's how Nuview compares to the main options out there.

FTP Delivery.

Until recently, the most used method for transferring large video files around the internet has been FTP delivery. At it's core, this
is a solid way of sending large files, but for delivering broadcast material and sharing video content, is has huge drawbacks.

No way for videos to be seen online.

Sending a file through FTP is like sending a package to an individual. There is no way for third parties to view this file anywhere on the internet. Meaning producers, clients, execs, etc. cannot check edits or videos without logging into complicated FTP servers.

Streaming video first and foremost.

When you send using Nuview, a streaming version of the video is created alongside the broadcast delivery. This means a version is available online for anybody to view and approve. And in stunning quality. This is also available on iPhones and iPads which can be great for approval purposes.

Detailed Login & Security Information is required.

FTP servers have varying methods of security logins. So there is no conformity between different platforms. This makes them more suitable for professional users and sometimes difficult for user without a large amount of technical knowledge.

Simple Member Name and Password.

Nuview requires a simple login, with a Member Name and Password that you select. There is just one single login process, so it's the same everytime for sending and receiving files. The NuviewUp software completely circum- vents FTP and has been design to be extremely easy to use.

After login, allows users access to all files.

Providing third parties with FTP access details, aloows them to log in to deliver their files, but it also allows them access to everything else that is on the server. So either sensitive material could be available, or a complicated folder access setup is required.

Allows access only to the desired files.

When uploading, NuviewUp software streamlines the process and delivers the files to the exact location without any direction from the user. When downloading, only a link to youir files is displayed, meaning recipients can only access the material they are supposed to.

Uploads are not resumed if connection breaks.

For mobile edit suites, that are relying on either mobile broadband or intermittent connections, FTP uploads can be a real pain. You could be 90% through your upload, and your internet connection disappears. This means you have to begin your upload from scratch.

Continual upload from multiple connections.

With NuviewUp software, you could begin your upload on location, pack up, go back to the hotel, continue the upload from the hotel wi-fi, without losing a single piece of data. Especially useful from worldwide locations with lower quality connections.

Sending multiple project files becomes confusing.

If you're sending documents and additional materials with your video, these can get lost within FTP folders with hundreds of files in. Meaning important scripts or copyright information can be missed. Also there are no naming conventions within FTP meaning it's difficult to locate files.

All videos and related files displayed clearly together.

Nuview displays all of your files together. Therefore on a single page, you can have your video, downloads in different formats, scripts, shotlists, and everything broadcasters and clients need. No more missing additional files as they couldn't be located.

No guidance on video encoding / formats.

As FTP delivery is just file transfer, there is no guidance on how the footage should be encoded. This means a highly-experienced operator with a full understanding of codecs and broadcast is required. Without detailed knowledge file sizes can be too high or picture quality not enough.

Droplets & settings provided.

As Nuview covers the process from start to finish, we provide you with Droplet settings to create the perfect files for delivery. Absolutely no previous knowledge is required, you just drop your files onto the Droplet and it creates everything automatically.

Browser-based delivery.

For internet delivery, browser-based options are also available. Whilst these can provide a similar experience, they are not
optimised for broadcast delivery and distribution, and do not use the additional valuable bandwidth available to applications.

Slow upload speeds.

The HTTP protocol on which all websites are based, has very limited bandwidth allocated for uplaods. This effectively means that large broadcast files take a long time to upload. When projects are time-sensitive, this can mean the difference between delivering or not.

NuviewUp increased bandwidth.

The NuviewUp software uses bandwidth channels that are not available to web browsers. These channels give increased stablility and much faster transfer sppeds. The speed increase in uploading via our software can range between 5x and 20x faster, depending on the connection.

Uploads are not resumed if connection breaks.

For mobile edit suites, that are relying on either mobile broadband or intermittent connections, browser uploads can be a real pain. You could be 90% through your upload, and your internet connection disappears. This means you have to begin your upload from scratch.

Continual upload from multiple connections.

High transfer & distribution costs.

The browser-based options that are available specifically for distributing broadcast media, are exclusive and charge high rates for the privelidge. You will also pay per download, effectively punishing your video for a successful distribution.

Flexible, affordable pricing.

Nuview videos are priced per Pod, dependent on the amount of space your content takes on our servers. This is currently around 10% the price of equivalent services providers. There is also unlimited downloads on all distribution, meaning you're not penalised for a large distribution.

Bland, unbranded distribution.

Using existing providers to distribute your content, you are forced to have your video distributed through their branded platform. Meaning your users are forced to a third party space, and your brand and experience doesn't follow through.

Bespoke pages for your brand or project.

Nuview builds distribution portals to match your brand exactly. They can even appear to be just an extension of you rown comapny's website if that's what you require. We can also brand pages for specific productions or projects. Distribution as individual as your brand.

Tape delivery.

The de-facto method for delivering broadcast. Normally involving long playouts, packaging, courier delivery and more.
Whilst industry technology has changed beyond recognition, this delivery hasn't changed for nearly 20 years.

Real time playout.

A large drawback with delivering on tape is getting your edit onto the tape in the first place. Playout occurs in realtime, plus beforehand the timeline needs to be clocked with all the programme information. Just preparing for playout can take hours in some circumstances.

Twice realtime export.

When implementing the full Nuview delivery process, you encode your rushes using hardware accelerator encodng equipment supplied by us. This allows you to encode your projects at twice the speed of a conventional playout. And it doesn't need to be clocked.

Expensive & combersome process.

Delivering on tape requires a supply chain of edit, producer and courier. All with their own associated costs. And as anyone who has delivered this way will testify, there will always be one courier in ten that either gets lost or has a tea break on the way. All slowing down and risking your delivery.

Efficient & streamlined process.

With Nuview, you deliver directly from your edit station. There are no intermidiary stages or problems to encounter. Delivering one copy through Nuview can save you time, money and stress. Delivering multiple copies through Nuview multiplies this time, cost and stress relief accordingly.

Multiple clients equals multiple dubs.

If you are delivering you project to multiple clients, there is normally no other option than sending out multiple copies, tapes and couriers. Add into this the fact that different clients might need different formats (HD, SD, NTSC, etc.) and your dubbing and delivery costs soon mount up.

One Pod fits all.

Becuase there are no download costs with Nuview, all of your clients can access your material from the same place with no extra cost to you. We also supply encoding droplets for all the main, popular formats, so you can create all different formats without leaving the suite.

Edit changes require subsequent delivery.

You've sent the tape out, you're at home, the day is over. Except the exec producer just called and the details on a name strap are wrong. So it's back into the suite, redelivery, playing out again, more tapes and couriers. All costing the production more and reducing your relaxation time.

Video Pods can be updated in minutes.

Nuview Pods can be updated in minutes. So whilst you'll still have to update to errant name strap, the encoding is twice as fast, and it can be online minutes after. Meaning there's no waiting for couriers, and again, if you've sent out 10 copies, you now only need to re-do one.

Satellite transmission / Fibre channel.

When rushes and programming are required immediately, perhaps there will never be an alternative. However, there are drawbacks to satellite transmission, and in many cases, Nuview delivery would better suit the production.

Cost prohibitive.

The luxury of super-fast, high-quality satellite or fibre channel delivery comes at a price. Usually, an extrememly high price. In some cases, this cost is justified due to the time-sensitive nature, but in many cases, the need for delivery cannot be matched by the cost of the transmission.

Flexible, affordable pricing.

Whilst no Internet delivery can match the immediacy of satellite, in many cases satellite is used as it's the only solution available. With Nuview's affordability, delivery is now possible fast, and without stretching your budget. For any situation where rushes aren't needed immediately.

One transmission.

You book your slot, you playout over satellite or fibre channel, you'd better hope they press record at the other end. If there is picture breakup, audio glithces, record problems, storage problems, or if a computer records the wrong channel, you're playing out, and paying out, all over again.

One Pod fits all.

Once the Nuview video is up, it stays up. For 3 months by default, and this can be extended indefinitely. So broadcasters and clients can download it over and over again. Without any additional cost. And it can also be accessed from any location worldwide.

No additional materials.

If there are important documents to accompany a programme or delivery, with satellite, you have to email them to the contacts that need them. It's their responsibility to find them. If the documents are required by multiple departments; traffic, legal, etc, it's easy for things to get lost.

Unlimited documents with the video.

Nuview displays all of your files together. Therefore on a single page, you can have your video, downloads in different formats, scripts, shotlists, and everything broadcasters and clients need. No more missing additional files as they couldn't be located.

Allows distribution of one format only.

When you send via satellite or fibre channel, you send your footage in one format only. This can obviously be dubbed and converted at a later date, but as a single means of delivery, satellite and fibre channel have huge limitations. (And can also only send 4 audio channels.)

Multiple formats in one place.

Within a Nuview delivery page, you can have as many formats as you need. So your programme can be available in High-Definition, Standard-Def, NTSC, PAL and Secam, and there can also be versions for mobile phones, iPhones, iPads, YouTube, Vimeo and more.

DVD / Blu-Ray distribution.

The days of physical media are numbered. Until now, the main way of getting your content into the hands of consumers was through
burning a large number of disks, and posting them out. With super-fast broadband across the world, this is no longer necessary.

Cost prohibitive.

Getting large quantities of physical media, produced well, and into the hands of consumers is an extremely expensive process. Just authoring disks well runs into the thousands, and duplication, especially Blu-Ray, is mostly an extortionate procedure.

Flexible, affordable pricing.

All Nuview Pods have high-quality, HD Streaming video. The cost is dependent on the duration of your video, but hosting a video, in fantastic quality, and releasing the link via a press release or email distribution list, can save tens of thousands and is a much stronger, more modern look.

Multiple regions, multiple formats.

Whilst running out 10,000 Blu-Ray disks for your clients might seem foolproof, as soon as it's popped into a player in the USA, or Australia, it's unwatchable due to worldwide regional restrictions. So effective disk distribution requires multiple formats, and numerous product runs.

One Pod fits all.

For viewing, Nuview videos are can be watched online, from anywhere in the world, without any regional or format problems. Add in the fact that Nuview has both Flash and HTML5 video players and every computer & device, on every operating system can view the files back, beautifully, in HD.

Change in edit requires new production.

You've only just released your DVD's three months ago, but one of the key interviewees has just left your company and you need to re-edit the promo. Well once that's finished, you now need to re-run the entire DVD process. Costings thousands in media costs and untold damage to your chi.

Video Pods can be updated in minutes.

Once you've re-edited your video, you can re-upload it to Nuview in minutes. This is avilable instantly, and you don't even need to re-send your links. The original video is updated, so any subsequent viewers see the new version of you rpromo without the errant interviewee.
